ART/STEM FACILITY

Our brand new Art/STEM room is a specialised learning environment, split into 2 spaces. The STEM room is equipped with resources, tools and technology to engage students in interdisciplinary activities focused on art, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. It features a variety of educational materials and other STEM-related resources. The room is designed to facilitate inquiry-based learning and problem-solving, allowing students to collaborate, experiment and innovate in a dynamic and interactive setting. Additionally, it includes areas for project-based learning, experimentation and prototyping, as well as spaces for teacher-led instruction and group activities. With its emphasis on hands-on exploration and critical thinking, the STEM room provides students with opportunities to develop essential STEM skills, such as analytical reasoning, creativity and collaboration, while preparing them for future careers in STEM fields.

The Art Room is a vibrant and inspiring environment dedicated to fostering creativity, imagination and artistic development among students. Equipped with a variety of art supplies, tools and materials, the room provides students with the resources they need to explore different mediums and techniques, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking and multimedia art. The space features work tables, easels, storage for art supplies, display areas for showcasing student artwork and ample natural light to enhance the creative atmosphere. Additionally, it includes specialised equipment for digital art, photography and other contemporary art forms. The art room serves as a place for students to experiment, express themselves and develop their artistic skills under the guidance of a knowledgeable art teacher. Through engaging in artistic processes and projects, students not only cultivate their creativity but also develop critical thinking, problem-solving, and visual literacy skills that are valuable across various disciplines and contexts.

HOME ECONOMICS FACILITY

The home economics facility is a purpose-built space designed to teach students practical life skills essential for promoting healthy living. Equipped with state-of-the-art kitchen appliances and cooking utensils, the facility provides hands-on learning experiences in areas such as culinary arts and nutrition. It includes multiple workstations where students can engage in cooking demonstrations, food preparation and meal planning exercises. With its focus on fostering self-sufficiency, creativity and responsible decision-making, the home economics facility serves as a valuable resource for empowering students with practical life skills essential for everyday living.

TECHINICAL STUDIES FACILITY

This facility is a purpose-designed space equipped with tools, machinery and equipment for hands-on learning in technical and vocational subjects. It provides students with opportunities to explore various trades and develop practical skills in areas such as woodworking, metalworking, electronics, construction and engineering. The facility features workbenches, power tools, machinery and specialised equipment tailored to specific trades or industries. Additionally, it includes instructional areas for theory lessons, demonstrations and group discussions related to technical concepts and principles. With its focus on experiential learning and skill development, the technical studies facility offers students a practical pathway to acquiring valuable trade skills and preparing for future careers in technical fields.

GYMNASIUM

Our school gymnasium is a versatile indoor space dedicated to physical education and recreational activities for students. Equipped with a variety of athletic equipment such as basketball hoops, volleyball nets, gymnastics mats and exercise apparatus, the gym provides a dynamic environment for students to engage in a wide range of physical activities. Its spacious layout allows for flexibility in programming, accommodating activities such as team sports, individual fitness training and assemblies if required. With its emphasis on promoting health, fitness and teamwork, the gymnasium serves as a hub for fostering physical well-being and social interaction among students, contributing to a holistic educational experience.

WETLANDS

Our educational wetlands area is a carefully preserved natural habitat located within our school, dedicated to providing students with hands-on learning experiences about wetland ecosystems and environmental stewardship. This area consists of a large pond along with surrounding vegetation and wildlife habitats. It serves as an outdoor classroom where students can observe and study the diverse plant and animal species that inhabit wetland environments, as well as learn about the ecological processes and functions that sustain these ecosystems.

PLAYGROUND

The school playground is an expansive outdoor space designed to provide students with opportunities for physical activity, play and socialisation. It features a variety of equipment and structures, such as sandpit, swings, slides, climbing frames, jungle gyms and playhouses, as well as open areas for running, jumping and ball games. The playground is designed to accommodate all primary and junior primary school children. Additionally, it includes amenities such as a picnic table, shade structure and green spaces for relaxation and outdoor learning activities. The playground serves as a vital component of a school’s holistic education program, promoting physical fitness, social development and emotional well-being among students through active play and peer interaction.

OVAL

Our school oval is an open outdoor space, designated for physical activities and sports. The oval provides a versatile environment for a wide range of activities, including running, walking, field sports and outdoor events. The oval also serves as a multipurpose playing field for students to engage in team sports and recreational games. Additionally, the surrounding greenery and open space offer opportunities for outdoor classes, group gatherings and leisure activities, promoting physical fitness, social interaction and connection with nature among students.

COMMUNITY SCHOOL POOL

The school pool is used by students from Reception to Year 5 for the Water Safety Program at the beginning of the school year. This program teaches water confidence, survival in the water, swimming technique, rescue of others, water safety, endurance and fitness. Additionally, lap swimming is available during lunchtime in the warmer months under teacher supervision.

An annual Splash Day (Junior Primary) is held in Term 1 and aimed at developing water confidence in our younger swimmers and exposing them to the water in a fun and nurturing environment. Our house captains help these young students with developing their skills and encouraging them in the water.

Swimming Carnival (Years 2-12) is also held in Term 1 where students from each year level participate in lap races and relays earning points for their House Team. This event is enthusiastically supported by parents, caregivers and the community, making it a fun-filled day for all involved.

OPERATING HOURS
The pool season will run from 1 December through to 30 March (subject to changes).
Monday – Friday, 3.30pm–6pm
Saturday – Sunday, 2pm-5pm
School Holidays, 2pm-6pm
Birthday parties, swimming lessons, dive classes, etc must be booked through the Streaky Bay Area School – 8626 1202.
FEES AND CHARGES
Child Annual Membership – Single $50
Adult Annual Membership – Single $70
Family Annual Membership (2 adults 3 kids) $120
Family Annual Membership – Additional Child $20
Child Casual – Per Entry $7
Adult Casual – Per Entry $10
Half Year Membership (only applicable for membership after January 15 of each swimming season) 50% of Annual Membership.
Adults Accompanying children at the pool ages 0-5 years, no charge for the child, adults casual fee.
Adults accompanying children (6 years and up) at the pool and not using the facilities, no charge.
Payment Plans – minimum 50% paid up front – must contact the Council for payment and approval.
NO PAYMENT – NO POOL ENTRY
Annual Passes can be purchased at the Community School Pool or the Streaky Bay Visitor Centre – 8626 1001, 21 Bay Road, Streaky Bay.
